ORB ARCHITECTS IS MOVING INTO NEW OFFICES
Business Closed for Move on Friday, May 29th
RENTON, Washington—May 27, 2009—ORB Architects is moving into a new office building on
Friday, May 29th, and consequently will be closed that day to facilitate the move.
The new
address is 350 South 38th Court, Suite 210,
Renton, WA 98055. The phone number will remain
the same—425.226.3522.
As designer of both the office building and the tenant space that will serve as their offices,
ORB Architects feels this space is a perfect fit. "Our new location will offer expanded room
to better accommodate growth and enhance collaboration opportunities. Plus, it reflects who we
are as a firm: it's an energy-efficient, environmentally conscious building designed to qualify
for LEED
® certification," says Geoff E. Anderson, AIA,
Principal of
ORB Architects.

PUMPKIN-CARVING BENEFIT DECLARED
A GREAT SUCCESS BY AIA SEATTLE
ORB Architects and Other Seattle Firms "Carved for a Cause"
RENTON, Washington—November 10, 2008—What happens when you give creative types a carving knife and pumpkin
and tell them their efforts will benefit an organization that helps communities in crisis develop
recovery programs? Well, apparently they bring it.
The pumpkin-carving contest, co-sponsored by AIA Seattle, Seattle Architecture Foundation, and
Design Within Reach, to raise money for Architects Without Borders was declared a great success
by AIA Seattle.
Firms were invited to submit their entries for consideration in five categories: Traditional, Starchitecture,
Freestyle, Judges' Choice, and People's Choice. The winners were announced at a reception on October 30th.
For the second year in a row, ORB Architects participated in the contest. "We like to use this event
as a team-building opportunity," said Geoff Anderson, Principal of ORB Architects and AIA Seattle Board Member.
"It's a fun, casual way to bring everyone in our firm together, while at the same time supporting a cause
that's aligned with our firm's mission."
Free pizza and bragging rights enticed enough participation that there had to be a vote to narrow down
which pumpkins went on to be entries. In the end, ORB Architects submitted two pumpkins—one featuring
mice winding their way through holes called "Ball of Cheese," and another representing a friendly ghost
from the classic video game Pac-Man. Though neither of their entries won, the ORB Architects team enjoyed
participating and also deemed the event successful.

ORB ANNOUNCES HOLIDAY HATS-OFF CAMPAIGN
RENTON—December 7, 2007—The staff at ORB Architects are taking their holiday hats off to
support Habitat for Humanity of Seattle/South King County. Thirteen hats worn by ORB team members
for their holiday card photo will be auctioned on eBay to raise money to help Habitat for
Humanity’s local homebuilding efforts. ORB will match all funds raised from the auction,
with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Seattle/King County chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
The auction begins December 10th and runs through December 20th. Bidders can access the auction
site via www.orbarchitects.com/holidayhats. The 13 festive hats range from a fashionably chic
shreddin’ snowboarder cap to a practical and warm, furry mad-bomber hat to a hand-knit,
whimsical stocking cap. Bidding for each hat starts at $5.00.
"We thought the hats would make for a fun holiday photo, while enticing our colleagues and
clients to get involved in our fundraising effort," said Geoff Anderson, Principal of
ORB Architects. "Habitat for Humanity is a natural fit that really complements our focus
on building strong and healthy communities, in part through the design of affordable housing."
