POINT DEFIANCE ZOO AND AQUARIUM TROPICAL REEF EXHIBIT

ORB Architects, Inc. (ORB) conducted a field investigation and analysis and prepared an investigative report outlining our recommendations for correcting the identified deficiencies in the Tropical Reef Aquarium. We also prepared the plans and specifications and provided construction administration for the renovation efforts. Our investigation found that the exterior Aquarium wall sheathing and roofing were well above the 30 percent moisture content necessary to support wood decay and the Aquarium HVAC system was badly deteriorated. ORB prepared a cost estimation and developed plans and specifications for the removal and replacement of the exterior wall sheathing, the installation of a quality self-sealing vapor retarder and new roof material. Additional recommendations included the reapplication of exterior stucco outsulation similar to the existing stucco.
