RENTON, WASHINGTON
Designed to maintain a sense of connection with the surrounding natural
environment, the space features curving streams of color and texture that
evoke the waters of Panther Creek that run through the wetlands just beyond
the walls and reaffirm the building's relationship to its natural setting.
The curved section of the south facade has full-height windows to take full
advantage of available natural light and provide dramatic views into the tree
canopy and creek below.
SUSTAINABILITY FEATURES
Carpet and Cork Flooring
- Carpet: ES (Engineered towards Sustainability) with
a backing system featuring 35% recycled content
- Bio-based, TractionBack® adhesive-free modular carpet
installation system, eliminating off-gassing and VOCs
and achieving better indoor air quality.
- Manufacturing results in zero additional waste to
landfills, and contributes to maximum allowable points
for carpet under LEED® NC, CI & EB
- Traditional Cork® flooring from Expanko: made from
100% post-industrial waste, achieves LEED® points for
Resource Reuse and Recycled Content.
- Virgin cork bark and post-industrial waste cork from
the manufacturing of the other cork products is ground
into small granules, which are compressed and baked. No
stains or dyes are used.
- During the manufacturing process, all raw materials
are consumed, either for the finished flooring product
or as an energy source.
Paint
- Benjamin Moore ECO Spec® Low-VOC Coating for better
indoor air quality
- ECO Spec® Interior Latex primers and paints used have
0 g/l of actual VOC content and are compliant with AIM,
QTC, SCAQMD and LEED® certified by GREENGUARD®
and Green Seal®
- Achieves LEED® credit for low emitting materials
Lighting
- Solar Shades: GREENGUARD® Indoor Air Quality
Certified, made of a PVC-free fabric, have 10% openness
to allow natural light in without glare
- Open floor plan allows light to spill deep into the
space in from the perimeter windows and offers views
from the majority of the office spaces
- Achieves LEED® credit for Controllability of
Lighting Systems and Daylight and Views for 75% of
Spaces and 90% of Seated Spaces
Furniture
- Inscape Scala furniture system is GREENGUARD® Indoor
Air Quality Certified and is the first installation in
Washington
- The system's filing and storage products contain
approximately 27% pre-consumer and post-consumer
material
- 95% of existing filing system was refurbished and
reinstalled
